  • Stripper Bio-Scrubber (SBS)

Reducing the levels of volatile organic compounds (VOC's) from a plants wash waters, so as to meet environmental discharge limits / consents can be both an expensive and timely process.

Applying MET's Stipper BioScrubber (SBS) process can remove greater than 99.9 % of VOC's from your process streams.

How SBS works: sbs1

VOC-containing effluent is pumped into the air stripper, where the process solvents are efficiently removed to leave clean effluent ready for disposal. The process solvents are in turn dissolved in air, and the contaminated air stream is then cleaned using the bioreactor/bioscrubber through biodegradation.

MET SBS system operates on a 2.5-hour batch cycle. This method allows a fixed volume of caustic wash water to be treated for a fixed length of time, guaranteeing that the treated effluent meets the required discharge specifications. Efficient  solvent removal from the contaminated air stream is also guaranteed. Greater than 99.9% of the process solvents is removed through the combined bioreactor/bioscrubber system. The air current is firstly circulated to gain maximum contact with the bioreactor liquid to remove the majority of benzene/toluene/m-DCB.  Secondly, the air is passed through the bioscrubber column where naturally occurring micro-organisms efficiently biodegrade the remaining contamination to effectively release clean air into the atmosphere.

Apply MET's Stripper Bio-Scrubber tefchnology to:

  • Remove volatile solvents from your process stream to below 2 mg/L
  • Remove solvents from the air stram to allow discharge to the atmosphere at less than 5 mg/m3
  • Biodegrade all residual solvent to carbon dioxide, water, chloride (in the case of chlorinated solvents), and more bacteria
